The Silver Mine on Chemainus

A 5 minute walk from the theatre, The Silver Mine on Chemainus is a chic little jewelry gallery that takes you away to an opulent silver mine’s treasures. As you enter this Chemainus gem, you are greeted by a handsome natural stone wall created by local mason Robert Brunsmann.

Hand crafted cedar walls support the gallery’s corrugated iron ceilings. The sounds of a working mine are softly piped through the speakers to complete the experience – listen for the canary. The Silver Mine uses a marvellous display of upright show cases suspended by cedar posts. A stunning collection of silver jewelry, green amber, moonstones, opals and turquoise from around the world including Italy, Poland, Morocco, and Nepal, all at very affordable prices - a pair of brilliant opal studs set in sterling silver are only $15. One gallery case displays an outstanding collection of wearable copper art - one of four dedicated to local First Nation carvers.

You can’t miss the Silver Mine on Chemainus - look for the carved cedar Miner on the roof by local artist Terry Chapman.
